Research & brand audit
Great branding doesn’t happen by accident. It’s built on insight, strategic thinking, and a clear understanding of who you are, where you sit in your market, and what truly connects with your audience. At Hubble, our research and brand audit service is where that clarity begins — creating the strategic foundation that makes everything else possible.
THE PROCESS
▼
After a discovery call to learn about your brand, and once you’ve completed our branding questionnaire, we’re ready to start our research and full brand audit. This is a crucial part of the process, as it allows us to understand your market, your competitors and your current positioning. By digging into these areas early on, we can ensure your final brand is more than just a pretty face; it is purposefully designed with strategy (while still having a pretty face of course)!
We undertake thorough desktop research to understand what’s working well in your sector and what isn’t. This includes exploring industry trends, shifts in consumer behaviour, and the visual and verbal language used by others in your space. Understanding these elements helps us clearly define how your brand can communicate most effectively, and confidently stand out amongst the crowd.
All of this insight is brought together in a brand audit document, which also includes two initial moodboard routes. These moodboards allow us to visually highlight potential creative directions and show how your brand could evolve. From here, we’ll collaborate with you to refine the aesthetic and strategic direction before moving on to the design of a fully bespoke brand identity tailored to your business.

Research
We get under the skin of your business, taking a look what’s working and what might be holding you back. We research your audience; who they are, what motivates them, and how they typically engage with brands in your sector. We also have a good snoop at your competitors to uncover strengths, weaknesses and opportunities that exist in your industry. We use those insights to inform the basis of your brand, meaning it will be relevant, strategically smart and meaningful.

Your brand audit
A deep dive into what you currently have. Here, collaboration is key, it’s important to be transparent with us to help us understand the successes and challenges you’ve experienced so we can build from there. We’ll take a look at the full spectrum of your brand identity - your logo, colour palette, typography, digital presence, messaging etc - assessing how well they communicate your brand message and resonate with the intended audience. We identify what should stay, what needs refining, and what needs to be reinvented.

Moodboards
These play an essential role in bridging the gap between strategy and design. They are a collection of images used to capture the overall tone, and feel the brand aims to convey. They allow us to share the creative direction we feel the brand will go in before moving on to the design stage. Moodboards are a great tool to ensure everyone involved understands the intended style and personality of the brand. By setting visual clarity early on it we ensure we’re all on the same page from the get-go.
